West Berks Pool Night Tonight - Red House B

Well its Tuesday, so that means its pool night down the local. I play for the Red House B team here in Newbury and its the start of my first full season after joining them midway through the now finished Winter League. Ok im not the greatest of players but I really enjoy it and it was a good way for me to meet new people and to have a midweek activity :)

On the subject of pool ive found some nifty pool trick shot vids on YouTube. Some of them you can relate to actual shots you would see on a pool table during a match, but seriously, when they involve frying pans and other kitchen utensils, stop using your pool table as a dining table!

Wembley Cup 2009

So excited this afternoon as ive just booked two tickets (thanks to TicketMaster) to see Tottenham play at the inaugural Wembley Cup this July! This is going to be a dream seeing as I have supported Tottenham since I was 8 years old and I have never seen them play so the chance to see them for the first time and at Wembley, well its going to be somethin special. Were playing Barcelona, which have world class players so it should be a great game having fellow Spurs supporters around with the intense atmosphere of Wembley. COYS!

Goodbye Newcastle fc!! Goodbye Middlesbrough fc!!

Thats the end of another season with my team Tottenham losing to Liverpool to miss out on a European place by just 2 points! :( I cant complain though, Harry Redknapp has come in and worked miracles since the shambles Juande Ramos masterminded and hopefully next season will be 'our season' COYS!

It has been funny afternoon though, watching the commentators on Sky Sports News going frantic over the relegation dog fight between Hull City and Newcastle United. Shouts here, chances there, but ultimately West Brom, Newcastle and Middlesborough are down to the Coca Coca Championship.

I'm quietly smug that Newcastle are bidding farewell to top flight football. Yes they have a big ground, yes they have a large fan base and yes they have had a good stint in the top flight under the days of Keegan and Bobby Robson, but they aren't a big club! no matter what their fans think! Im going to look forward seeing them play Plymouth Argyle at Home Park next season! Also being in Newbury means i get to the seem them play at the Madjeski when they travel to Reading. Next season can't come any sooner! Roll on August!!

Scrapheap Challenge - Andy Barnes Oh Dear!!!

As im writing this post ive got Scrapheap Challenge on in the background. I quite like the show, not only has it got Kryten from Red Dwarf hosting it (Robert Llewellyn) but seeing as i dont have a mechanical or engineering bone in my body its good to learn some stuff to! (especially if i ever wanted to create a pumpkin chucking machine, hovercraft, wall breaker or a mini catapult!).

This particular episode has members of the public creating a vehicle that doesnt have an engine and they pit themselves against one another in like a drag strip environment. The winners of the public heats then pit themselves against the 'Scrapheap AllStars' which are 3 famous faces from previous series.

*Enter 'Oh Dear' Reference*

One of the AllStars is a Devonshire bloke called Andy Barnes (centre). If you want a sterotypical country bumpkin look no further than him. With your standard 'proper jobs' 'goodun innit' 'wats appened en?' quotes you will either laugh or cry. I do the latter, yes its good that he is giving us 'south westerners' some TV coverage (i mean to be honest how often are we on the news except for the 'and finally ref at the end of a bulletin when some old dear in Padstow is campaigning for free parking for the local church parishners) but i think the fact that 95% of the UK population dont have a clue what he is saying, it just makes us look backward :(
